The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    This is good news. Google updater always annoyed me. This sounds much better.

    Kinda wondering myself with this statement:

    "The first good news is that you'll no longer see googleupdate.exe in the list of processes when you open the Task Manager. The second good news is that Google Update's team listens to users and constantly improves the software: Google Update is now open source and administrators can disable it using the Local Group Policy Editor."

    If one no longer sees is in the task manager, why would one be bothered with disabling it?

    I've always disabled GoogleUpdate from startup.

    same here but you also need to remove the task from running from the tash scheduler..
