I currently have a new Dell XPS 1530 with Vista Preminum 32 bit. I realize I do not have the XP drivers but what would it take to uninstall Vista and install XP Pro?

Is there any particular reason you're switching from Vista to XP? Maybe we can help you.

    you'd need a xp install disk, preferably w/ sp2 and a license/key

you'd also need the sata drivers during install, best is on a usb flash drive for use near the start of the install routine

and all the other xp compatible drivers for the laptop= wifi card, ethernet, etc.

there are lots of threads on this if you do a search......

Also you could dual boot and select which operating system to run when you boot the laptop.

There are some tutorials that explain how to do this, or if you are interested I can help you do it.

It's pretty simple once you get an XP disc. Just back up your data, insert the XP disc, and follow instructions. Then put in a flash drive with the drivers you downloaded beforehand from dell.com/support (or while XP was installing if you've got an old machine), and install all the drivers.

You may have difficulties with hard drive recognition depending on which XP disc you have. You'll have to find another thread for help with that; I was fortunate enough not to have to burn that bridge.
