I am currently using the HP Pavillion dv5 1159se laptop, with 64-bit vista installed. However, I have some programs I need to install that won't install due to unsigned drivers. I know the programs are safe after having used them on previous computers. I have tried every method I can find on the internet to disable the whole signed drivers thing, but nothing has worked. I am coming down to the resort of changing my OS. I was wondering if anyone knew if it is safe to do so on this laptop. Any feedback/advice is appreciated.

What programs don't work?

There is a way to turn off driver-signing checks in Vista 64-bit. Look here.
Edit: Oops, didn't read your post clearly. Looks like you tried to disable that already with no luck. -
Are these "previous" computers having the same setup as your laptop - i.e. 64bits Vista?
Have you tried checking if there are updates to theses apps with appropriate 64bits driver support? Have you tried to install these apps with compatibility mode?
cheers ...
Changing the OS from 64 to 32 bit.
