    Well is it? All my Google hits give me nothing but commercials, and well, if I wanted to know how to change it with software I'd Google that, somehow Google disagrees with me and seems to ignore 50% of the search term.

    Well yeah, I'm doing this for my school, so it requires that it's license free, thus that won't do, plus it's a drain on the system and I've used it myself only to have to disable it in fail safe (I hate everything made from Stardock, they've never done a good application, only fancy ones that kills your performance).

    Or, there's always the DIY way, which I finally remembered, as explained on this webpage (amongst many others):

    (1) Get a bitmap image that's 640x480 and 16 colors, and save it as boot.bmp in the Windows folder;

    (2) Open the file named boot.ini in notepad (or other text-only text editor - MS Word will not work well here :D );

    (3) Save a backup of boot.ini - heck, save several backups if you're paranoid like me :D ;

    (4) Add the text "/bootlogo /noguiboot" to the end of the line in boot.ini that specifies the operating system to boot, so that, in a one-OS boot.ini, the line under the section heading "[operating systems]" looks something like this:
    (5) Save boot.ini back exactly the way it was (other than your additional text :D ).

    With that, you should now have your own custom (albeit perhaps not imaginative :D ) boot logo!
