My Sager 2090 is coming today, and the first thing I want to do is uninstall Vista 64 bit and install 32 bit. However, I've never had to uninstall/install an operating system before. I know Vista doesn't have an easy 'uninstall' option, so should I just reformat my hard drive and then install 32 bit from there? Is there anything else I need to do? What about drivers and stuff like that?

There is no "Uninstall" option in Windows Vista as far as i can remember , at least not in upgrade scenarios. You will have to format then install 32bit Vista. For the drivers, drop by Sager's support site or google.

um... quick question why do you want to switch?

It's quite easy, but I tried both with the Sager and I definitely find the 64bit version runs better with the Sager/bizcom/compal provided drivers.

so I'd stick with the 64 bit version really..

If you want to try tho, simply pop in ur Vista 32 cd and boot from there, the install is a breeze, for partition/formatting it has a very easy tool, you just select the partition, click delete, then new, then format, if you really want to clean the thing out. After that it's really a matter of filling in preference info and then letting it run it's thing.

Once Vista is up, install your drivers IN ORDER
    i think it goes
Chipset, Video, Audio, Lan, WLAN, and after that I think it's pretty safe to go anywhich way

Just got the 2090 w/64 bit from XoticPc today. Many tools like Google Pack, or even Google Toolbar, Spyware Doctor, Clean Cache are not 64 bit compatible. Not a show stopper, guess I can wait until they fix it! And Windows and AVG are blocking or asking questions about everything I do.

Vista compared to XP? All the familiar things are there, you just have to hunt for them. Sure, it's pretty, but why rearrange the basics? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Almost change for the sake of change.

It took me a little while but I got it all switched over, and it's not bad once you know how to do it. First, find your 32-bit Vista cd. Pop it in, then restart the comp. On the first white screen hit F12, and choose to boot from the cd. It will then go through the steps to install Vista 32-bit. Choose to format your hd, and then finish installing Vista.

Once you've gone through all the set-up stuff again, install all your drivers.
