Hi
I have a Dell Latitude, and to save battery lifetime, I unpluck the power stick each time my battery is recharged.
I know that some new IBM, lenovo, machines come with a software that allows the user to define, when the battery should start recharging ex. when it has 10% power left.
Is there any software made, for Dell (and other brands, as a lot of my friends have the same problem!!) that could do the same charge-proces??

Your battery should stop recharging automatically once it has reached a 100% charge. It doesn't hurt your battery to leave it plugged in after it reaches 100%. Hope this helps.

It does stop recharching, but then when its at 99% i starts charging again, meaning that its "dying" slowly. It must be possbible to find a software solution that makes it recharge at 10% eg. ??

Why exactly does this matter? Wouldn't you rather it maintain a full charge whenever possible...in the event of an unexpected power outage or possibly needing to suddenly take the machine on the go? If it was at 15% because you hadn't allowed it to charge yet, and you suddenly need to leave...won't it stink if you want to use the laptop for an hour or two but don't have enough juice in the battery to power it(if there's no outlet available)?
I just don't see the point. The battery doesn't have a "memory" anymore, so it doesn't need to be fully discharged before recharging. -
You're right Li-Ion batteries used in all fairly new laptops don't have a memory effect but they only have a limited amount of charging cycles before they start getting weaker. So loading the battery to 100%, then going down to 99 and back up to 100 makes you "loose" one whole charging cycle.

I haven't seen this option in any brand, can you point me to a link where they talk about it? It is interesting. But I magine you need both hardware and software support for it to work. So I cannot imagine a software developed for that. ie there should be a recharger that has th option to be switched on and off by some software/driver instruction.

So if we say that your battery got 500 cycles, you just use 1/50000 cycles by charging from 99% to 100%
