As the title said, very often during startup the computer asks for a chck disk.
I have noticed that it occurs after i have installed or placed something new onto my computer.
The main things during the check disc are:

Inserting an index entry into ....
    Correcting error in...
    recovering orphaned file

May the problem be with the hard-drive?
    Btw, I'm using XP, SP2

Happened to me with a Toshiba X205... Started out kinda like what's happening to you. Later on I was getting file transfer errors and stuff like that. I swapped the hd, no more problems.

Jea, right now it's only getting worse.
Lots of programs don't work, constant Windows explorer errors, games won't start...
Tomorrow gonna reinstall windows and if the problem persists, also going to swap the hd.

Going to do a full lookover on the problems I had previously, maybe someone has the same problem in the future.

1.Everytime i had installed or placed something new on my hardrive, constant check disc at startup
    2. Programs started to fail, games didn't start etc
    3. Did a reinstall of windows
    4. (Now comes the really weird stuff) After i had reinstalled windows and all the drivers were installed etc everything seemed Ok.
    5. turned off the computer, a bit later turned it on again, and got a black screen, didn't load windows.
    6. Another reinstall, result was the same

If u have the same problems, there's nothing else to do than take it to whereever you bought it. Your computer needs a new harddrive.
