I'd like to read Chinese (traditional mostly, but some simplified too) on IE or Firefox. However, my DVD drive is busted (this is on my old computer) and I can't put in the XP cd to install it. Is there a way I can download something off the internet (besides third party programs) like the necessary Windows files or the fonts to accomplish this? Thanks.

    Does this not work?

In FF: View > Character Encoding > Chinese Traditional/Simplified. I guess a similar thing would apply in IE. I don't think you need the Windows files for this...

Go to Control Panel - Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options - Regional and Language Options. Click the Languages tab, check "Install files for East Asian languages" and click OK. Are you asked for the Windows CD? Some versions of Windows have the necessary files on the hard drive so that the CD is not needed.

Do you have another computer handy? If yes you can map the optical drive of that computer to your notebook. You can download an image file. I believe this is legal since you already own a copy of the software.
