I got my system up and running and everything seems to work well except... When I play DVD in windows media center at full screen on my TV it gets choppy and stuttery. If I minimize WMC to anything smaller than full screen it plays fine. I tried several different DVD's and they all did the same thing.

I also tried streaming movies from netflix at full screen resolution and it seemed to work fine.

    My setup:
    PC onbaord 780G (1080P @ 60)->HDMI ->Onkyo TX-SR-705 ->HDMI ->Samsung FP-T5084

    My PC:
    Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H
    ASUS - SATA DVD-ROM DVD-E616A3T
Seagate Barracuda 80GB 7200 RPM SATA
    Kingston 2GB DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) KVR667D2N5K2/2G
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane 2.1GHz
    Windows Vista Home Premium
    Rosewill 300W power supply

    ANY IDEAS??
    Thanks

This is mostly like software problem. Can you clarify something here, so the video output is to an analog TV. If thats the case then you cant do anything about it.

    Edit:

Nevermind, I googled your TV it is digital. Anyways, update your WMC it might help.

I didnt see any updates for WMC on windows update site, and I wouldnt know where else to look for updates to WMC?
I might download the free powerDVD trial and try that to see how it works. But either way I would still like to get the WMC working right.

I have a new laptop running Vista. I was getting intermittent Blue Screens of Death in WMC while playing a DVD and once with a regular video. I read that leaving your wireless internet connection on can sometimes deplete system resources and interfere with DVD playback. A cause for example would be a virus program getting automatic updates. I have turned the wireless off during DVD play and haven't had the problem since.

Thanks for the tip. I think I fixed my problem though. I used the ATI catalyst to force the video to output at 1080P @ 60 ( I thought I had done this before, but I guess not) and now it seems to work just fine.
I have full screen DVD video and DD/DTS audio through HDMI with no additional codecs or software installed.

Try VLC player for your DVD's. See if that helps.

Although it may work fine now, i suggest you try using a codec pack such as CCCP and the built in Media Player Classic to play your media from now on as having a codec pack makes a difference most of the time. If it does nothing for you, then a simple uninstall will get rid of it completely.

I've had plenty of issues with poorly thrown together codec packs. The only thing I use is Haali Media Splitter and FFDShow. If you feel the need to try a codec pack, stick with those two and you'll be happier (and your machine will run better) than if you use other packs.

Yes, poorly made codec packs mess up your machine very much. But these codec packs i suggest are the cream of the crop, and they don't mess up your machine. I understand too well the burn of bad software to recommend any to others.
