If I have 2 or more tabs open and I close the tab I'm currently on it instantly crashes...I tried reinstalling and even updating to the latest developer update and it still crashes. How the heck do I fix this?

Chromes still in beta if you have any addons uninstall them. Firefox was causing me some problems when I used the 2.0 theme.

Try deleting your search history and cookies. I was having some issues with Chrome and that worked for me.

I tried that. Cleaned everything with Chrome using Ccleaner.

Both tabs shouldn't crash, because they are separate tasks. What are you using to close the tab that causes both to crash? Ctrl+W, middle mouse button, the 'X' for the tab, etc.?

I suspect your using a command that closes both tabs, because of the way Chrome is set up to run. If one Chrome crashes that instance of Chrome goes down, not all of the separate instances. This is one of the nifty features that got me away from IE7 and FF2/3.

Think of it this way, if IE7 crashes it can take all open folders on your Windows desktop with it, hence explorer has stopped working, big crap on a stick. If one tab on FF2/3 crashes the whole browser locks up and eventually crashes, but not separate windows. Chrome/Iron treat each tab like they are their own windows, thus if a tab crashes, the tab goes bye bye, but Chrome/Iron keep on running. I've had a Chrome tab crash on my a handful of times and each time it was only the tab that went bye bye, not the whole window. Though their are still errors that believe that it is shutting down the whole browers (like the 'about:' bug in Chrome).

    I know how Chrome works...
I close it using the "x" button. And yes, the ENTIRE chrome browser crashes and exits, and that Chrome popup comes up and says "Whoa! Google Chrome has crashed. Restart now?"

cha...thats weird! No idea then :(

Try to install Iron since it installs separate from Chrome and see if it has the same bug.

Hmm, I have the exact same problem. I'm curious, do you have a tablet PC, or a Wacom tablet? I recently got one, and I've heard that others have the same problem, and they all have Wacom tablets. Could be the problem.

I’m using Chrome, even though I have noticed it crash so many times; I have not yet experienced a consistent pattern like crashing when closing with two tabs. have you tried the dev release ?.
