I'm a student at the University of Louisville, and to access the wired LAN we must sign in to a client called Clean Access. What it does is, it checks to see if your PC meets the requirements of the network. Anti-Virus is the main one.
But, my problem is, when I log in, Clean Access tells me that I need to install the latest virus definitions for my AV program and that I have limited access to the network.
Here's the thing: I have Norton Internet Security 2008, and everything is completely up to date. I've ran LiveUpdate MANY times and yet no updates to be had.
Any ideas?
I'm betting Clean Access does not yet support the 2008 version of NIS.

I have to use that also at Edinboro Univ of PA. And I would say you are correct that it does not yet support NIS 2008. Did you just get NIS and this happened the first time you tried logging on? Last year I got my girlfriend a laptop with NIS 2007 because it was free after rebates. I got it the beginning of November 2006 and Clean Access still did not support the 2007 version. What takes so long I have no idea. She had to use Sophos anti virus because the school provides it for free until we came back for the spring semester. It seems they do not provide support for a product until the first of the year, so NIS 2008 might not be supported by Clean Access until next semester, assuming thats when your next semester starts. Its not right that they want your computer to be clean and secure to use the network but when you buy the latest software they wont let you use it. My IT department told me I should have checked the supported software list before purchasing it, when the list just lists Symantec and no specific releases of any Symantec software. Needless to say they didnt appreciate what I had to say. I would contact your IT department down there and see what they say. Hopefully it works out for you.

I did contact them, and they told me that they were going to let the Clean Access "people" know and then they'd contact me sometime.
That's all ours says too: "Symantec Products"
Oh well, I don't mind the temp access. I can still do everything, I just have to log in again after an hour and a half.
