    Hello,

I have a simple request. My wife has an extremely healthy habit of not saving her documents and on more than one occasion she has lost hours of work.

I'm looking for a keylogger that's isn't mucked up with malware in it. I understand that a lot of security suites will flag any keylogger categorically, I don't mind telling it to ignore it, just as long as I know it's inherently safe.

I wouldn't bother asking, but this isn't my realm, any advice would be great.

    Thanks guys/gals =]

Just set her office suite to do autosaves every minute.

It's not hard to do. Way less intrusive and less suspicious than keylogging your wifes machine.

MS Office and Open/LibreOffice have all changed the name of autosave to autorecover. The default interval for grabbing autorecover files is 15 minutes. Change this to a 'shorter' interval.

Learning how undo works (100 levels in Office, some restrictions) helps a lot too. ctrl-Z is your friend.

Autosave/autorecover files are kept in a different directory than the default home document directory. Knowing where those files are is essential.

Also check out the option to always create a backup copy. This is also valuable for people who can't remember to manually save work in progress.

And buy the wife a UPS for her machine.

    +1 for Autosave/recover.
Use the built-in software feature to avoid her losing (more than 1-5 minutes of) work.
It's so much easier than mucking about with a keylogger.

    Another one for the "Autosave".

I'd posted a thread here about lost documents at work, few months back.. since then we have enabled autosave and in some common computers, also set MS Office to make backup copies just to be sure! Cheers..

I think I'll roll with that for now, shortening that save time. Thanks!
