Is there a way to clean the Vista Install so that it wipes every except the original vista files without reformatting?
I know this is a long shot and probably not possible but i just want to make sure, because my friend doesn't have his install disc with him and he is at College looking for a quick way to clean his install without having to reformat, because as we all know its stupid to reformat if you don't have an OS disc to use.

Someone has already mentioned that if you have a legit copy of Vista call Microsoft and they'll send you a Vista disk for $5 after you provide them with the product key on the bottom of your laptop.

Do a search for this topic and you'll find the 800 number to Microsoft.

Since the OP said they don't have a Vista install disk, this suggestion won't do them much good.

You can order a legit backup copy of Windows from this link

You just pay S&H. The DVD is identical in every way with the one you would find in retail stores. In fact, all Vista DVDs that you see in the stores, whether it is full or upgrade version, whether it is home, business or ultimate version are all identical. They may be labeled differently but the contents in the DVDs are all identical in every bit. It is the product key that will unlock which Windows you are going to have.

Take a look at the Clean install Guide in my sig. Your friend might have the Anytime Upgrade disc on his hard drive already. Otherwise, any Vista install media will do.
