    Hi everyone,

I just got a new Thinkpad R61. Quite excited about the change from desktop to laptop. However, I would like to reinstall a clean operating system instead of the preinstalled one that includes lots of bloatware.

I tried to use the "recovery and rescue" partition and ended up with the same thing (along with all the bloatware)

I tried to install using the OEM key (the one under the laptop on that Window's genuine advantage sticker) using a Vista Anytime Upgrade DVD but ended up with a nonactivated version that requires activation within 3 days.

Is there anyway to install a fully cleaned version of Windows Vista Business with the OEM key that i got with the laptop?

    Thanks all

Install from your Windows Upgrade Anytime. Then, use your laptop's Windows key to activate by phone.

perfect, i've finished the clean install

although i've found that the touchpad side scrolling function and the middle click plus trackpoint scrolling functions are now working.

could it be a driver problem?

Try this link. It worked for me on an HP. Probably a little different for your puter.
