    Hi everyone,

How can I do a clean install of XP? I recently got my laptop, and I feel that it's not running as fast as it should. Is there any place that gives you a tutorial?

    Thanks!

And this is not the one in your sig?

First you will need to find all the appropriate drivers. Is it a Dell?

Put the disk in the laptop, restart your computer. Should boot to CD. Install Windows over the other OS you have installed. Make sure to back up files first.

Pretty self-explanatory. Make sure to grab the network drivers before you reformat so that you can get on the web to get the rest of the drivers.

    Specific questions?

yep, the laptop that I want a clean install of XP is the one in my sig. Sorry, but what's a driver? I do have the -Drivers and Utilities disk, and the Reinstallation CD of the XP home edition SP2. The reason I want to do a clean install is clear the bloatware (I know I do have some on my laptop). Will the Drivers and Utilities disk have bloatware on it? (ex: Norton anti-virus) I have a Dell Vostro 1500.

Also, I i just do everything Vespoli says, will all the memory be deleted from the laptop?

I thought the whole point of the Vostro was its bloatware and sponsored crap free.
Wouldn't it be easier to uninstall the bloatware, if theres any, which I doubt theres much, since thats the selling point of the Vostro.

Even though they promised that there wouldn't be any bloatware, it seems like there is some on my laptop. Well, another reason I want to do a clean install is because I have a Windows XP pro CD. I currently have a Windows XP Home running on my laptop.

If it's a Dell, there may be a restore partition at the end of the drive. You may not want to delete this partition if you ever plan on selling your computer.

Well, you have all the drivers needed on that CD Dell gave you, so clean install of XP Pro shouldn't be a problem at all.
