I am finally getting around to getting rid of the excess programs on an HP Pavilion I bought almost a year ago...

So some things I am not quite sure about and I wanted to go through things thoroughly:

    1. I have several updates for Java:

    J2SE RUntime environment 5.0 update 11
    J2SE RUntime environment 5.0 update 10
    J2SE RUntime environment 5.0 update 9
    J2SE RUntime environment 5.0 update 6

I use IE7 Do I need to keep all these updates or can I just keep the latest one (11). In other words does each update include what was in the previous updates and can I remove the earlier ones?

    2. I have Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003. DO I need or would there ever be any use for the pre-installed Microsoft Works -- or can I remove that?

    3. Since I use IE7 and don't imagine myself using anything else (I tried Firefox and Mozilla but there are too many problems at various websites and I do not have the time to deal with that), is there any reason I should keep the pre-installed Netscape (which I used to love and used until the bitter end... until MS drove it out)?

    1) Uninstall all of them but the newest.

    2) If you don't use it, uninstall it.

    3) If you don't use it, uninstall it.

if u r NOT short on disk space, i personally leave them alone, never know when one removes certain m$$ elements, some issues would occurs (like shared dlls).

. java - i tend to leave them alone since not all app r being updated to the next level of java (personal experiences in the past, some people just lucky than others)

the next best thing to clean up system is to reload from scratch!

    cheers ...

I've uninstalled all the updates to Java except the newest one and don't think I've had any problems thus far.
