    What is it exactly.. and does it take more processor power or anythign to use it?

    It used for LCD screens and makes the font sharper. I use it on my desktop LCD (Samsung 152T) and notebook LCD (Acer Aspire 2000). Check out:

    Is there any difference in using the web tool compared to just clicking on "cleartype" in the effects box when you right click on the desktop and go properties>apperance>effects ????

    It's not just for LCD's its for any computer monitor, it just crisps the text more by using a little of the graphic cards AA.
