At work, I'm the admin for both our LabTech RMM system and that of our two partner MSPs. As such, I'm building a lab on my laptop to use for testing scripts and automation, as well as for continuing education. I'm pretty comfortable using both Hyper-V amdw VMware (workstation and ESX), and at some point or another used both on my various laptops. Right now, I'm not really sure which may be best to use for work purposes. I can tell you that I'm more likely to be virtualizing servers than I am workstations. The one clear benefit I see to using Hyper-V is that we are a Microsoft shop, and generally migrate clients away from VMware to Hyper-V when possible; so I could always build VMs locally before deployment.

Well I installed Windows Technical Preview first in Hyper-V and i had to find on the internet how to configure the wireless card to work. It took some tweaking. Then the VM became corrupt and when I reinstalled i had issues again with wireless so I decided to try Virtual Box or VM Player. Well I couldn't get any of them to work. The error got with VM Player was you can run a VM player VM while a Hyper-V is running. So i went into the setting and disable Hyper-V in Windows 8.1. After that both VTB and VMP both worked. I chose VMP because VTB would allow me to go to 1080p resoultion and VMP did.
