I am not able to understand where is windows built in ClipBoard and how to use it? Whta are its functions? Does it need to be replaced with some good alternative, and if so what is the choice for that alternative( must be free).

    I saw one option

    Clipboard Recorde-- http://www.techsupportalert.com/best_46_free_utilities.htm

Have anybody used it. I liked it as it was simple and small but it tried to phone home, so I uninstalled it.

There is an option of clipboard buddy but I don,t like it UI.

Any help wil be appreciated.( I use XP Home SP2)

XP's clipboard is automatically used when you are cutting/copying and pasting in documents. When you cut/copy it is saved on the clipboard, until you paste it in a document.

Depending on your setup, you can have the clipboard showing in your taskbar. If it isn't, you can go to start-->run-->clipbrd and it will bring up your clipboard. Personally, I would just stick with XP.

For crying out loud, find better ways to spend your time than looking for clipboard alternatives.

LOL dr_st, take it easy. hahahaha

Like SouthernGirl said clipboard is just a temporary storage/cache for things that are copied or cut for later use.

You can also use the Print Screen button on your keyboard to take a snapshot of whatever is currently on your display to be pasted onto paint or some other image software.

This is great because you can show people shots of error messages or if you want to quickly take a snapshot of an image on the internet that you cannot copy.

Another use of the Print Screen function I found to be very useful was that you can download HUGE widescreen dual display wallpapers and put them to use in your My Images/Pictures screen saver in windows and then save them as your wallpaper. When you use these huge pictures in your My Images/Pictures screensaver, the program resizes it to fit in your display and then you can take a snapshot using the Print Screen function to capture it and use it at whatever resolution your screen is at.

    :D
