Not sure if this is a software or hardware issue???
More laptop troubles, I really need some help. [V]
I have a D-Link PCMCIA ethernet adapter on my a laptop I'm trying to fix, it would not work (even with appropirate drivers) on windows xp. So I installed ME (the OS it was disigned for) and it seems like the laptop is now picking up the driver and the lights on the adapter are lit up. The internet still does not work, when I go into device manager under the D-Link it says the device in disabled,
It says "You can't enable this device because it has been dsiabled by a windows driver." It states the error as a code 22 ??? Whats's a code 22, I've never encountered anything like this

Here's the system sepcs (bear with me lol)[8D]

    Intel Pentium III 700 mhz

I have no idea what that error is, but you can usually find a new etherenet adaptor for < 10.00 if you look for one on sale

I don't think it's the adapter, I have tried 4 different ones and I'm always getting the same result, I researched the error and it is defined as a device being disabled (in this case it's a windows driver disabling it). The solution is two reinstall the device and if that does not work contact the manufacuturer.

So I'm not sure what to do now, the ethernet card is in working order so it must have something to do with the laptop. I don't think it's the OS because I've tried XP and ME and I'm getting the same results...

This may sound dumb, but did you try to enable it? Try the latest drivers from D-Link. Good Luck.

When I reloaded my startup software after reformatting my HDD, the Bios defaulted to reading from the CD drive, so check the bios settings and make sure they are doing what they are supposed to.

Had similar prob with dvd-rom after installing cd-rw to home comp. go to cont panel, system, devise mgr, right click on problem and then click on uninstall. It gives warning but I went ahead anyway, exit and shut cown. Mine worked fine when i restarted. No idea why but it did !!!
