Been looking around for a good "all in one" codec download...currently have Divix bundle and a ap3 filter download...is there a great codec bundle that incorperates everything? Want one that has all the codecs to play avi,mp3,mp4,flac etc...basically everything i need to play movies, music etc...just thinking of file space and want a codec download that incorperates everything that seperate codec bundles do like divix etc..would appreciate any feedback! Cheers!

Vista Codecs have all what you need. This is the link: http://shark007.net/

If you run Vista 64bit download the 64bit version, you must install
it after you get the first one. this is the link: http://shark007.net/x64components.html

I use this codec pack and can play anything. I highly recommend it.

CCCP is so much better than k-lite. I used to use K-Lite, but cmon... it's not 2003 anymore. I've gotta think people who prefer K-Lite haven't tried CCCP.
I personally have not tried Vista Codecs, so I can't say anything there.

Maybe, maybe not, but it's not an "all in one" codec pack that the OP is looking for (as stated by him/her/it in the first line of the first post of this thread). Might as well throw Lunix in here!

It does do video & audio.

And I doubt that there is a codec pack that plays every format perfectly.

Every codec pack will have its pros and cons.

I have ffdshow installed - never had problems with it.

    K-Lite Codec Pack Full.

Obviously, and that's what the OP is asking us, which is the best amongst the all-in-ones, ie, which has the least cons and most pros.

All of the users who've posted in this thread have suggested a codec pack, while you barged in with something else, and then wrote your autobiography.

Ehm - I think you are distorting facts here.
ffdshow is a codec pack - that works well for me.

And I did not write my autobiography.

I can't comment on .rmvb - just tried with .rm and it works.

    * Sigh*

ffdshow is a filter, codec packs are a combination of many filters/codecs. Got it now?

If you want to keep your system clean and uncluttered do what I did. Install CCCP and in the setup options select 'no media players' from the drop down box. That way it just installs the codecs and not any third party media players. Restart your computer and feel good knowing your Windows Media Player can now play most of the video/audio files out there and you're not cluttering up your system with a bunch of other players.

I use K-lite mega codec pack aswell, but apparently some of the codecs in the pack there are copyrighted making it illegal.

Its still a legal grey area but most free software websites like download.com and filehippo host them so i guess its ok to use.

I had a bad experience with a codec-pack in the past.

I solely rely on VLC now.
