Is this an apples to oranges comparison or is there some way to calculate/translate the VIsta WEI in terms of the Win7 WEI?

I just want to know if the Lenovo will be as fast or faster overall ( with a little more attention to cpu and graphics)

My last laptop with Win7 scored:
    Processor-5.7
    RAM-5.8
    Graphics aero-6.4
    Gaming graphics-6.4
    Primary hard disk-5.6

    base score is 5.6

The laptop I'm interested only has Vista on it and scored:
    Processor-5.2
    RAM-5.9
    Graphics aero-5.9
    Gaming graphics-5.6
    Primary hard disk-5.2

    base score is 5.2

It's like comparing random numbers the drunk, homeless guy is yelling out at the back of the bar and the number of pigeon droppings on his t-shirt.

haha, I'll need a translation for that comment, or maybe none since that makes about as much sense as the WEI ;)

WEI on Vista maxed out at 5.9 and in Windows 7 goes to 7.9. The benchmarks for each hardware component have also been revised. Winsat is actually a fairly decent benchmark in Windows 7. Open an elevated command prompt and type winsat prepop then hit enter.

Thanks, the first I've heard of this!

Still trying to figure out if I can gleam how the Lenovo will score in the Win7 WEI. Would it score the same?

Would need to know the specs of the machine you are interested in to do any gleaning.

The thing about WEI is that the scores can change drastically just by changing some drivers you use. My graphic scores go from 3 to 4 depending on which driver i'm using. I'll give the winsat in 7 a try.

I get 6.8 graphics score with the Nvidia notebook drivers from Toshiba support and 7.1 with desktop drivers from Nvidia. 7.3 if I overclock with Nvidia system tools. WEI caps my memory score at 5.9 because there is less than 4096mb available with 64 bit OS. The onboard 9400m chip shares 256mb putting my machine at just under 4096mb ram.
