With Windows 7 installed after about 20 minutes of idle time I come back to my computer and it will be frozen, mouse works but not keyboard. It will respond after a few minutes. I thought it was the HD turning off in the power settings but I set it for never and it still persists. Ask if any more info is needed.![]()

Was this a clean install? Were the drivers installed and in the correct order for each component? Does the keyboard's cable/plug have any issue?
Is the keyboard wired, wireless or bluetooth?
Does another keyboard show similar symptoms?
After the twenty minutes, does the screen turn off? Or, does the system go to sleep? Does the computer/screen wake up with the mouse, but not with the keyboard?
Yeah, we need more info. -
When are you setting it for the screen to turn off, or go into sleep mode. Shinakuma had a similar problem, with his machine which would responding when he closed the lid.

It was a fresh install keyboard and mouse wired, its not their problem though, the computer isn't responding to the commands that mouse is keyboard are giving. The mouse moves, but it wont activate anything on the monitor. I have it set to closing the lid to do nothing and it will never sleep and it will stay on. I have power saving on so just the monitor will turn off. I checked all the power settings to make sure it wasn't set to go to sleep/hybrid sleep or hibernate. It seems like the harddrive turns off after its idle then turns on and takes a little while to load everything back up under power settings. I turned it all of though..

I had a similar problem, check your event logs and see the time the problem occurs, if there are any errors around there.
I updated my chipset drivers, it hasn't happened again yet, but it might be a bit too early to tell if its fixed or not. -

Ok i updated mine to the latest version after I installed Windows 7, but Im not sure if it started to happened then or later. Nothing in the logs abnormal around the time it started, just normal windows processes starting and stopping

This is what fixed my issues with random system freezes.
