I had Windows 7 installed on my laptop and created a partition to install XP Pro and there is no boot manager during startup, so I cannot dual boot 7 and XP because 7 is never detected and it just boots to XP. How can I solve this?

By inserting your windows 7 dvd and allowing it to run startup repair--when you installed xp on your computer, xp has no conception of an operating system released 10 years after it was made and it overwrites the boot sector and no longer points to Windows 7 startup bcd (boot comfiguration data).

Windows 7 start up repair will recreate the bcd and also recognize windows xp and create a startup entry.

This. Seen this a few times before, this is why it's always recommended to install Windows 7 after XP. I suppose you could relate this to the whole unable to upgrade to Windows 7 from XP thing as well...

Oh ok, that makes sense, well i knew i hadn't lost any data but it would be bad if i could never get access to it, i'll run startup repair. Last time i dual booted 7 and XP i did install 7 after XP was already preloaded onto my T43 so i guess that's why i didn't have problems with startup entries. Obviously i had to incorporate SATA drivers for my HDD using nLite.

Thanks guys, helps when i'm pointed in the right direction.

Because TKB is setting up XP primarily for gaming, therefore it will not work. Virtual Mode does not support DirectX.

I think homeboy shouldnt use a TP to game esp when it has a GPU with known issues.

Meh, i don't care much about the heat deffect, i have a 3 year warranty, IWS so it's eligible in Canada too. Hopefully it'll fail a month before the warranty is out, i haven't noticed any symptoms related to the GPU, no artifacts, snow, random crashing, even heat is fine, although i still need to replace thermal compound on CPU because it downclocks when playing GTA 4, i discovered this from setting affinity for GTA 4, i got lower average framerates but the gameplay was overal actually smoother. No display driver BSODs either, once it did last night in XP randomly when i was browsing NBR, but thankfully discovered it was only related to the Security Center.

Why not? There are plenty of people on the gaming board that game with their 8600M GT's, and they have yet to fail.
