I used to transfer my computer screen to my Panasonic HDTV through an HDMI cable. I would just connect the cable to the TV and it would work. Now, I did the same thing but nothing happened. The only thing different is that I reinstalled the system lately.

    Anyone knows how that works?

    Thanks.

Did you install all of the drivers for your laptop (ie: visit HP and download all of the drivers)? Then, did you check your video settings and make sure HDMI is enabled on your laptop?

How do I check if HDMI is enabled?

Playing with the display settings, I made it work, but only as an extension of the desktop. Which means that when I see the pointer on the TV, I don't see it on the computer and vice-versa.
In the past, both the monitor and the TV screen use to work as one.

    Any thoughts?

Did you install all of the drivers from HP, including any specific video applications for your video card?

    Try this:

    Right click on desktop>>Personalize>>Display Settings

There should be tickboxes where you could toggle a monitor being an extension of the other..you could choose between different connected monitors in the dropdown menu there, in your case there would be two. If you want to just duplicate the feeds on your laptop screen and the HDTV, untick the "extend desktop into this monitor" in the 2nd option in the dropdown box. Otherwise, if you want to use just the HDTV, tick the "This is my primary monitor" in the HDTV and uncheck everything (i think there's two) on the other monitor.

PS Sorry I can't give specifics..I'm not using my own comp right now. Hope this helps though.
