I asked a Dell tech if I could instal V64 on my Inspiron 530, Q6600, 4Gb, Home Premium SP1 and they said it is not compatible. Same answer regarding my Studio 1735, T9300, 4Gb, Home Premium SP1. Matter of fact, they went as far as saying they do not offer any systems with Vista 64.
What's up with this?
Can I install V64 on these systems? If so, do I just buy the V64 DVD?
I went to the Vista 64 site and tried to order the DVD and it said the offer was not available with my Key.
Help.
Thanks in advance.

your hardware is compatible, perhaps dell doesn't offer their own drivers for their hardware and that's why you're getting that response?

Thanks Goofball.
This is good to know. The ironic thing is that on my Inspiron 530 dell/support/drivers, the drivers show 64-bit compatibilty.
Now, I have to find the best price on v64. Any god sourcesout there?
Thanks.

I'd suggest buying a Vista Home Premium Upgrade and get pick up the 64bit disc for $10.
If you can prove you are a student:

Other academic versions usually are not licensed for 64bit and 32bit. This one is (and I know because I have it). -
I got academic licenses in both 32bit and 64bit versions with seperate keys. I guess im just special.

Dell does not provide support for 64-bit but they have started sending home premium 64-bit if your in the USA or Canada. Check out all the details here.

Try searching the forums... we've had threads in the Dell forum about obtaining 64-bit installation discs from Dell... with Home Premium, some people have been able to get them to send out the disc, and others haven't.
