I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask this question but here's the problem.....

I used to connect my laptop to my TV through a HDMI cable,it worked perfectly fine but sometimes when i'd disconnect the TV and start using my laptop the sound wudn't work..

I clicked on the speakers icon next to the clock in the taskbar and it showed there are two devices working, one was named after the TV model , the other was the speakers of the laptop, i tried chosing the speakings but still the sound wudnt work, so i clicked on the TV's icon and it opened its properties and at the bottom of the properties box there was "Device Usage", so i chose "Don't use this device(disable)" and then the sound worked back again on the laptop..

Problem is,now whenever i connect the TV the sound wouldnt work on the TV and it remains working on the laptop.

I went into control panel,Devices and printers and found an icon for the TV but it says in the properties that the device is working properly.

So anyone has any idea how i can get the sound working again on the TV?

    Thanks in advance

    Try this:

Connect the HDMI cable to your TV then enable all devices you manually disabled.

Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and choose "Playback devices".

Now you should have two devices listed: Speakers and your TV.

Right-click TV and choose "Set as Default Device". Restart to confirm your device is working properly.

Do you mean full screen (yes, either the computer or the TV will upscale it) or High Definition (no way, where would all those missing pixels come from????)????

it should work fine. once you connected to the TV via hdmi you might need to toggle the laptops display off using Fn+F7. this is because typically tv displays are a different resolution than a laptop display. after that you may need to fine tune the size of laptop's video output if its cut off or not reaching the borders of the tv. check your videocard's control panel or windows control panel for hdmi overscan settings.

In my graphics card properties it says under the option tv/monitor settings - that they are not supported. So what use would an HDMI OUt be with this laptop??
