Occaisionally, twice so far, i ahve experienced a glitch where IE7 Opens heaps of a new window constantly, until i stop the process in task manager. I use Vista home premium 32bit, why could this happen? I have been using spybot, mcAfee and i have tried hijack this to determine the problem and to no avail. Could this really be JUST a glitch? or problem with an addon?

Sounds like adware or spyware to me. McAfee sucks, try installing Adaware and see what it finds.

Yeah it sounds like spyware. Spybot, while it used to be good a long time ago, is a pretty awful spyware program nowadays. Use the forum search, and you'll find a sticky that lists some really good anti-spyware programs.

You've got an infection of some sort; that's not IE7 behaviour, not even as kludgy as MS stuff usually is.

I have been using A-squared paid version which I got on one of their free intro offers, plus I use Threatfire. I also have Avira Anti-Vir running.

I have had great luck with SuperAntispyware on my desktop and my wife's computer when removing identified malware.

Kaspersky Internet Security is very good, but not free.

I used to swear by Spybot S&D and Adaware, but they have not done a very good job in keeping up and they seem to keep getting larger in their use of memory.

ah ok, well i have decided to go with A-squared, its already detected one high risk exe mcAfee didn't. I am thinking of downloading avira antivirus to replace Mcafee, after seeing your Virus program comparison on the free virus software sticky.

Also, should i use spyot anymore? could A-squared plus Avira = good enough protection? If i dont try to keep the McAfee security center firewall, will i need to download a free firewall too? What is a good one for that?

Don't use spybot anymore; the consensus seems to be that it's no longer worth using. The recommendations in the A/V section are pretty good; however, I will say that Avira is a little annoying if you go with the free version because it regularly pops up a box asking if you want to convert to the for-pay version.

In terms of a for-pay anti-spyware, I've been pretty satisfied with Webroot's SpySweeper, and the cost is not particularly onerous.

Alright here's what I would do.
    1. Download AntiVir and scan for viruses, and fix all of them.
    2. Download Superantispyware and scan with it, again fixing all issues found.
    3. Switch To Firefox.
If that doesnt solve it, clean install and do the above.

¿Do you have UAC turned off? If so, try to enable it to try to block the malicious program.
