Does anyone know how to configure cool edit to record the audio that is playing on the computer rather than what the mic is picking up?
-
right click volume >> recording devices
show disabled devices then..set STEREO MIX as DEFAULT device..
dont forget to se the volume to the max..
and the loudness output of your recording file depends on your internal MAIN volume..not hardware volume control -
You can also try TotalRecorder, I used it before, it's very simple.

None of these work on Vista x64 do they?

Most Vista audio drivers have 'Stereo Mix' not only disabled, but unavailable. I believe you can thank the RIAA for that. Hence the need for pseudo driver programs like TotalRecorder.

i use adobe audition 2.0
and before i installed it i already have stereo mix set as default device..
ok..heres another how how..
after you open the recording device..
it shows only microphone right?
right click on the blank space then show disabled and disconnected devices
and yes they worked in vista x64 -

I know that Audacity used to be able to do this, but last time I checked it didn't work on Vista x64

Also the only reason i chose cool edit is cause i want to familiarize myself with it for my job at my college radio station. -
