I've searched the forums but I'm not entirely satisfied or clear with the method. As the title suggests, I want to copy a DVD to my HD. I do not want to make copies of the DVD or do anything fancy with it. Ideally I would like to copy the entire DVD including all the extras but of course having the option to only copy the movie would be nice. I believe the ultimate goal would be to have each DVD as a virtual drive or something akin.

I read about DVD Encrypter but I believe that has been discontinued. Also, DVD Shrink, but I thought that only compressed the image. I could be wrong.

Has anyone done this or have any suggestions?

I use K3B. Has dvd-css support built in, so it can rip any DVD into a .ISO file on your hard drive.

I use it to bring several different movies with me on my laptop when I travel, that way I don't have to carry discs with me. Mplayer can play the DVD movie directly from the .ISO file on your hard drive.

    * K3B and Mplayer are not Windows programs though - I have no idea how you do this on Windows.

Thanks. Yeah, I use Vista Ultimate and was preferably looking for a freeware option(s). But what you're doing with your movies is exactly what I want to do with mine on my laptop... and for the same reason.

    Anyone else?

DVD Decryptor has always worked fine for me.

Is there a major difference between DVD Decrypter and DVD Fab Decrypter?

DVD Shrink does exactly what it says however the resultant files play perfectly from a hard drive.
