We all know how much of a pain when you ty to use your favorit CD/DvD and find out it has been scratched up and can no longer use it properly.
Many games makes it so you have to at least keep a CD or DvD in your CD/DvD Drive in order to play it.
This can cause soem wear and tar after sometime also.

So is there a way to make a Legal Copy of my CD/DvD so I can just use the copied version for everyday use and keep the original in a safe place?

What about a CD? I have a game I want to copy so I can play a networked multiplayer game with my brother, but I don't want to buy another $40 game just to do this. Is there anything like DVD shrink except for CDs?

Not legally. The $40 is the license fee per person (installation).
