Ok, I've turned my old laptop into basically a music player for my parents, and hooked the S-video out to the TV. Everything seems to be working fine, but The TV's resolution isn't jiving quite right with the computer. I have the laptop set at 800x600, and most of the screen is there, but the TV is cutting off the taskbar and a tiny bit of each side of the screen. It's a 16:9 HDTV, but the picture isn't right no matter what video size setting I put the TV to or whether I used 800x600 or 1024x768 on the computer. I did move the taskbar to the top of the screen, and it's functional, but I would like to try and get it working perfectly if possible. Anyone know of any 3rd party stuff to get it working or a place to find a monitor driver file for the TV?

    Relevant (I think) specs:
    WinXP Home
    S3 TwisterK KN-133 video
    Toshiba 34HF84 Television

I know it doesnt help, but ATI's driver has the ability to strech the output to fit any screen.

You may want to try updating the video drivers to see if you can get a 16:9 resolution to match the screen of the TV. I understand it's an old laptop, but you should be able to set the resolution for both screens independantly as well. If that doesn't work, you may also want to check out an app called 'Powerstrip'. Here's a brief guide with other resources for this app:

yeah... I've come to the conclusion that it's "good enough", since it's really just for playing music, not browsing the web or other such stuff that is best left to something that won't aggravate your eyes after a short time.
