This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Corrupted files on harddrive

    I recently bought a 1tb external hardrive (WD my book pro II), and I've been constantly downloading torrents for the past 2 months, yesterday it started giving me IO errors, so I got a 1tb seagate HD to copy all the files on, but when I try to transfer them in vista, it just frezes on "calculating time remaining", and the like 20-40% of the videos freeze up.... any idea how I could repair these, so the videos would at least skip the corrupted sectors, and how can I transfer these files? (900gb in movies/tv shows)

    Edit: when I do the vista error checking, under HD properties, it just freezes up on stage 4
