Hey Guys,
I am buying a new HP laptop and am trying to decide if I want to go with the 32 bit or the 64 bit version of the operating system. I'd like to take advantage of the full 4 GB of RAM, but my iPod touch does not work with 64 bit Vista....which is a huge problem.
Here's my question. I read on this forum that your 32 bit vista key works with the 64 bit version of vista too. Is this true?
If it is and I had a 32 bit copy of Vista, how would I go about obtaining the 64 bit version to use my key with?

1. Yes, it's true, the key works for both 32-bit and 64-bit.
2. Try calling HP, some manufacturers will send you the 64-bit disc for free or a low fee to cover the cost.
Now, before jumping to Vista 64-bit, ask yourself this question, are you really gonna use all 4 GB of the RAM? 75% of the people that posted this question probably couldn't even use 3 GB. And don't expect to have a day and night difference in performance with the majority of the apps on the market today, most of the apps today are still native 32-bit. In fact, some apps/games will be even slower in 64-bit Windows. Don't get me wrong, of course 64-bit is ideal, but right now we're still in the transition period.

Exactly same question was asked here just recently. I answered you question in that thread.
