    Hi all,

I receive a lot of REALLY long emails that I don't think will get read by many, so it got me thinking: is there a way to create a link to certain portions in an email message? I'm thinking of what you can do with MS Word: create a table of contents and be able to click on a title and go to that section in the document. This way the sender can just create a little summary at the beginning and it will make it a lot easier on the readers. I personally use Windows Live Mail/Windows Mail but couldn't figure out a way to do it in those. Heck I'm not even sure this is doable, hence why I'm asking you guys. :)

    TIA

    Yang

If you can configure your e-mails to be HTML then you could use HTML code...
I think you can do that in Outlook... no idea if it would work for you though.

Hmm... although I'm pretty sure writing their emails in HTML code is too techy for the people in question I think Outlook is worth a try. Maybe it has a put-in option to do this. Thanks.

    Anyone else have suggestions?

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly, but Outlook 2007 at least can do this easily enough. The sender has to do the following, and receivers must be using email clients that can support the HTML format:

    1) When composing an email, highlight a word or move the cursor to the location you want readers to jump to.

    2) In the ribbon panel, click the Insert tab.

    3) Click 'Bookmark' in the Links section of the panel, and assign a name.

    4) Highlight the text you want to make the link and click 'Hyperlink' in the Links section of the panel.

    5) Click 'Place in this Document' under the Link to: options of the dialog that pops up, and find the bookmark name you just created.

Is that closer to what you're looking for?

Oh wow, this is exactly what I was thinking of. Cool, thanks!
