Hey, I have a Dell inspiron 7720r. I dropped it a few days back. Everything was working fine even after the drop, but suddenly the system slowed down. Did some research and figured the HDD might be damaged. So I got a new one and installed it into the second slot. Installed Windows on it. Now I can access files from the other HDD too. Now Is their a way that I can create a disk image of my previous windows and restore it on new HDD? The older windows wont boot due to the damage on the Hard disk. Is it possible to transfer the whole windows to the new hdd

Your lucky you can access files on the other hdd. Forget about a disk image of the old one. You really don't know what happened to it so forget it. Just get the files you need off it and chuck it.

Ditto, you don't want an image from an HDD that is not 100% working, some vital files may not be copied correctly.

Go to the DELL site, enter your service tag and download all the appropriate drivers for your model then do a clean Windows Installation.

Even if your old hdd was still good and you were just doing a hdd upgrade I still would tell you to go with a clean install. Yes it will take longer but I can you with a clean install your laptop will run much better.
