I just installed Creative MediaSource 5 on my new HP dv5z laptop (64-bit Vista) and cannot get it to recognize my MP3 player (Zen Vision:M 30 GB). It is recognized in the Device Manager, but not in MediaSource. I found a fix for it in the Creative support forums that had me change USB permissions in Regedit, but when I tried to do that it told me "Access Denied." I tried running it as an administrator, but that didn't help either. I'm the only user on the computer and I am an Administrator so I don't understand how it can deny me. You all are so knowledgeable here I thought maybe someone would be able to help.

I think your have to take ownership of a certain file involved in recognizing your mp3 player.

Any idea what file? I have used this MP3 player and program on my old laptop with no issues. I even checked and the software is compatible with 64-bit Vista so that shouldn't be an issue either. It bothers me too that my computer is denying me from modifying the registry. My Zen is also recognized by Windows Media Player, but I'd really like to use MediaSource as that's how I make playlists and such.

Just thought I would post a follow-up. Of course this was actually an easy problem to solve... I went to the website and had to install a special plug-in! Sometimes I guess we just overlook the obvious.
