I am having a problem using a cross over cable . my brother has windows 7 64 bit beta on his esktop and im tryin to connect to it with a cross over cable on my laptop with vista 64 anyone know how I should go about doing this? so far I have tried with no sucess.

did you set IP's on both machines?

no cant figure out how to do it do u need to star a new network? do I need to turn off my wifi.

try a normal one, not x-over. Some not so long time ago we tried to connect my Vista machine to my friends XP and x-over didn't work... just out of curiosity i tried a normal cable and it did the job

If autocrossover doesn't work just setup your ips like 192.168.1.1 and the other laptop 192.168.1.2, The subnets 255.255.255.0 . Set both computers workgroups to the same.
