It's always brought me directly to the task manager, now I get a WME security window with several options, task manager, change password, log off, shut down, and lock computer.

Two questions, how to I change it back and what happens if I "lock computer"? What are the options then?

I believe WME security window gets enabled when you turn off 'Use of the welcome screen' in user accounts settings so try enabling it and see if you get it back.

Alternatively, just hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to go directly to to the task manager.

If you lock your computer then just reenter your login info to unlock it.

    1. To change it back, go to Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change the way users log on and off -> Use the Welcome screen

    2. When you lock the computer, everything is still running, all it does it brings you to a screen where you will have to re-enter your password to unlock it.

I've had one in the past but I don't have a password at the present.

Added: I figured that one out pretty quick. I logged out, another screen came up with my user name and a empty password box, at which time I just left it blank and hit log on.
