If I am going to get a laptop with NVidia's CUDA technology, what windows programs can I use to benefit from this tech?

For a normal user? None. Massively-parallel computing is an ongoing research topic. Hasn't made its way into mainstream programs.

    What Lithus said

anyway now cuda is just an isolated relic of nvidia's atempt to put ati out of the market direct compute and opencl should soon make cuda a long forgoten joke

Well, cuda used in Adobe premier for video stuff. It helps. Although I don't get why it has to use only cuda cores and not just any videocard... Like ATI.

Cuda sucks big time for research. I've found OpenCL to be a lot more efficient and faster.

Ok. I was kinda talking about video editing, sorry for not being specific. I figured that would be the primary use of it.

I have used CUDA with DVDfab to compress video, i could compress an 50gb blu-ray in under 3hr`s, i think it was a lot longer using the cpu, just for backup purposes though.

No, CUDA has little to nothing to do with video processing. It's about using your GPU as a massively parallel math co-processor.

The primary use of it that I would see. Not what the concept is.

A few video transcoding programs make use of CUDA. That's about it though. And even in that area, Intel's QuickSync is giving CUDA signficant competition.

Although I believe that Quick Sync is only used in 2 programs as to yet.

The entire Adobe Creative Suite makes use of it. Recent commercial media conversion software use cuda and stream. It is also used in 3d modelling assuming you are using a renderer that supports gpgpu. It is used by universities to do heavy scientific simulation and it is also used to crack passwords.

premiere pro cs5 is cuda only. photoshop and after effects cs5 use open gl. adobe is in partnership with nvidia and i wouldnt be surprised if they move their entire suite to cuda in cs6.
other video editing programs like powerdirector and muvee reveal also use cuda but also use the amd counterpart.
a lot of media players also use cuda to decode the video, relieving the cpu for other tasks. they usually support amd's counterpart also.
