What gives with the Cyberlink ower DVD trial? I downloaded it for a 30 day trial to play blu-ray content. But after just two weeks it stopped working and won't let me play anymore blu-ray discs. All I get is the prompt that says I need to register and buy the software. What kind of monkey business is Cyberlink playing?

Okay, I don't know why the desktop icon stopped working, but I had to go to the drive where the program was stored (H) and select "launch Power DVD 9." After that, I chose "pin it to the task bar", and now I select it directly from there.
So far, the video is plays great with no visible anomalies. Unfortunately, I can't test the 5.1 audio, since I lost most of my equipment in storage. The stereo is barely tolerable, but I'm only using the headphone out jack. If there's anyone who has used their laptop as an HQ media center, I'd sure like to hear how you rate it.
I had wanted to compare it to Total Media Theatre 3 and Corel DVD Pro all of which are blu-ray play software. But I'm still I'm still befuddled by how to launch Total Media and Corel doesn't offer a trial on their DVD Pro 2010 (even though there material says they offer trial version on ALL their products.) Maybe they just haven't got around to adding it yet? -
Well Cyberlink Power DVD 9 trial version is one headache to deal with because of all the constant prompting to purchase the product. However, once you get past that that product works reasonably well.
I tried it up against the trial version of TotalMedia Threatre 3. So far, Cyberlink is in the lead. There was one other version of blu-ray player software that I wanted to sample but unfortunately, Corel hasn't released it's DVD Pro for trial yet.
Cyberlink also allows for full 7.1 audio (TotalMedia's trial doesn't offer audio for Dolby? So unless the media you're viewing is without it, all you hear is silence)
One other thing, TotalMedia is quite the CPU intensive software. My CPU runs an average of 55% and gets quite hot*. While a movie running on Cyberlink rarely passed 17%, and without any heat issues whatsoever. The only bad side to Cyberlink is it's price, which at nearly $90, I'm afraid is quite high.
