Hey gang, is there any way I can tweak the DEP settings to run for only essential programs as I'm getting errors every once and a while...
    Thanks!

. it probably is already set as OPTIN at the moment (from within ur boot.ini)
. got good AV, set it to AlwaysOFF (/noexecute= AlwaysOFF)
. my personal experience had nothing but trouble with this flag at anything other than AlwaysOFF

    cheers ...

I don't know what problems are caused by DEP or how to tell if a problem is caused by DEP, but... the direct answer to your question is:

Control Panel > Classic View > System > System Properties > Advanced > Performance Settings > Data Execution Prevention > Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.
