Which one is better for the DVD-R series?
I saw two formats and one happened to be +ve and the other -ve.
What's the difference between them?
Also, why must there be 2 formats?
I heard that there is such a thing as Dual Layer as well~
What does that mean? one side +ve one side -ve and cd is able to be fully utilised in a way that you can burn on both sides?
Please tell me for those who has the knowledge~
Thank you very much~

Different standard were developed. DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW. Most of today's burners support both. The sizes are the same too.
DVD+ is known to be more reliable due to physical characteristics.
DVD- is known to be more compatible
Dual Layer (exists on both DVD- and DVD+) allows more data to be burnt on one disk(8.5GB instead of 4.7GB).
Dual Layer burns two layers on the same side. It's NOT Two-sided. -
DVD-Rs are more like CDs, but DVD+Rs have better error correction. DVD-R is slightly more compatible, but this is really only an issue with older DVD players. With bitsetting, marking the DVD so your player sees it as a DVD-ROM, compatibility is nearly 100% for +R. Most laptop drives only do it for DL discs.
