ok. hear I go...
I been editing for over 3 years and I just got involed with DVD Authoring and I'm having problems finding a good program that will make me happy.
I have played with:
Movie Factory 3.0 & 4.0:
It's alright, but doesn't seem to have what I want.
sony DVD Producer 4.0:
This program is alright and hear is why. The program inserts the video of a mpeg file speart from the audio file of that same video. meaning when I insert the movie, i have to insert the audio too and it takes up double the space. Example.
If my movie is 50 mbs (video/audio combine)
When i insert it in the editing window of this programe, it seperates both video and audio into 2 files.
when I insert the video, I then have to insert the audio in the audio track of that video, giving me a total of 100 mbs all ready in used out of 700mb CD-R(thats bull crap). This program already lost a *star* for its rating, just for that crap.
Next, when I'm burning my final project, the cd ejects its self do to some stupid error (DVDErr: 331036 - streaming) something like that. It did it twice on me, even after I turn of the DMA.
Now I'm looking for a butter program that has more tools and that professonals use.
Here is what I'm looking for in a DVD Authoring Program:
Menus
Transitions from one menu screen to another
Adding mp3s to play of selected by the user ( like if i want them to listen to the movie soundtrack, i can add mp3s so they can listen to the soundtrack from the menu screen)
Better Highlight tools (not some stupid square lighting up the text)
Something that allows me to burn my mpeg movies to a CD-R disc without haveing a burning problems.
thanks.

Been a while since I've done any authoring. I used to use Adobe Premiere, but that is expensive. You may want to head over to Doom9.org. They got a lot more info about that stuff than here. Good Luck.
I know things, things that could get me killed
