I know you can use msconfig to disable certain startup programs, but just for "peace of mind" I was wondering if I could get rid of some of them from my comp completely. For instance, I installed nTune awhile ago and have now uninstalled it as I no longer overclock my GPU; yet, nTune is still in the msconfig startup prompt. I disabled it eitherway, but would really just like to get rid of it all together. I see that it shows the registry location, but for whatever reason it doesnt seem to exist there... Is it possible that I have to reenable it to show up in the registry? BTW, I'm using Vista Home Premium x64 incase your thinking of recommending me any programs.
Thanks much!

I think the general consensus here is not to dig too deeply into the Registry at all. If you must, I think most would agree that CCleaner is a pretty fair and safe program to use. To be honest, though, I'm not postitive that it works with x64.

Can CCleaner remove startup items from the registry?
-
There are several locations in the registry where execute on startup items are kept. In particular, there is a per-user registry key as well as an all-users key. If you want to delete the registry entries for an app that starts on boot, you'll need to make sure that it's deleted from both locations. You'll also want to check the run-once keys for both each user and all-users.

You could remove the programs you dont want at startup by deleting them from the Startup Folder....or have a look at this....

I installed CCleaner and it does have an option to delete the startup registry entry, thanks much!
