how do i delete one of the dual boots so i only have one OS? I'm on xp pro. I know you have to go to system properties then click startup and recovery, but then what do i do?

I also want to merge partitions. my main C drive and an empty D drive. how do i do this?

EDIT:I followed this guide by MS http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289022
and i went to Removing an Operating System section and i typed

    bootcfg /delete /ID#

in the boot.ini file and i made that my default and made the time to display the os's 0 so now when i boot it keeps on rebooting and i cant get to windows xp. how do i fix this?
