    Hullo,

After reinstalling Windows 7 64bit Pro on M6600 computer I notice I have NO USB boot option in one-time boot list (F12).
USB device is on the second place in BIOS boot sequence (F2).

USB ports works find. I can use all devices connected to them. Although external keyboard remains inactive till the Windows logon screen.

Because of the above I am not able to perform windows backup Image restore directly from an external HD used previously to backup the system. Attempting this I have a prompt to install the driver that I cannot localise.

I will deeply appreciate any helpful suggestion to solve the problem.
Thank you very much in advance,

Please don't double post in different areas of the forum.

As someone asked in your other post, have you made sure you're using a USB 2 port? If it's USB 3 it won't be active in the pre-boot environment.

A sort of workaround for booting from usb. download the Plop boot manager, burn the .iso file to cd, boot the cd and it comes up with a menu asking which device you want to boot from. I just used this yesterday to make an old computer boot from usb.

Plop - Documentation / Manual / Examples - Free Boot Manager, builtin usb driver, native usb, boot different operating systems, cdrom, usb, freeware, option rom bios

I downloaded the plpbt-5.0.14.zip. inside there is a plpbt.iso. burn that to cd and boot the cd.

obviously this doesn't solve your problem as to why your laptop isn't booting from usb anymore. I noticed you mentioned a pendrive. Are you sure your pendrive was created successfully and was working?

The boot from USB problem is solved. I have verify that with ext hard drive. Both USB 2 ports function that way in Dell M6600 I have just learnt.

Still no external keyboard functionality in pre-boot environmental.
Here are the Keyboards entries in Device Manager (not too many?):
    HID Keyboard Device
    Logitech HID Compliant Keyboard
    Standard PS/2 Keyboard

I thank you for your info.
