I recently purchased a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. I was first able to play dvd's and cd's using media direct and now I cannot play them, I cannot even open media direct by itself. I downloaded a k lite codec hoping this would help but it doesnt. I considered reinstalling media direct onto my laptop but I think I have to reinstall windows xp as well to do so, something I dont wanna do. If anyone knows the problem or possible solutions that would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks
    wendy

depends on the version of media direct if it is 2.0 go to dell support and download media direct repair utility
if it is 3.0 you have to reinstall m/d by formating with 3.0 dvd and then reinstall xp install all drivers then reinstall m/d 3.0
hope this helps pm if questions
