Just curious if anyone know how I can get CPU/GPU temps to show up in a program like rainmeter or samurize.

I know a little about rainmeter, and for the life of me I never got samurize to work last time I tried it.

I don't need every last spec of my laptop showing on my desktop. Keep in mind I'm running Vista x64, not all of the doodads from XP work here.

anyone know of an easy solution? I'm no interested in running a third party app and pulling data from it, unless it can be minimized to tray and it has a small footprint (like HWMonitor).

    Perhaps an AutoHotkey script?

    Thanks for any enlightenment =]

I just started using carbonbar for samurize. Note that it requires alot of configuration to work correctly.

Unfortunatly, you say you couldnt get samurize to work (will it just not load on 64bit?), but i do not know much about rainmeter yet.

However, carbonbar uses Rivatuner to pull the gpu data, and speedfan to pull the cpu data. Both can be minimized to tray and set to start on login. Maybe you can try pulling the data from these into rainmeter if you know how.

I wish I did know how.

Would you mind sharing your setup for Samurize? (I am a little more Savvy nowadays)

I would like to try it out, even thought you have to beef up w/RivaTuner & SpeedFan.

Also, how are you getting both of those to startup, are they elevated? If so, are they elevated w/o prompts?

everest can do an overlay just fine. I use everest and then the hud.vision plugin for rainmeter

    UPDATE:

I just tried Samurize with CarbonBar, sad to report, it was very cumbersome to get everything installed, and then Samurize ate half my CPU once the config was loaded, hah CPU temps jumped 15+ deg.

Thanks for the suggestion wings, but it didn't work so well for me.

    Any others?

HUD.Vision in Rainmeter gives a nice CPU temp display.

Indeed, until I can find a decent/lightweight CPU/GPU Temp-meter I am going to just stick with Speedfan in my System Tray. It's super-lightweight, and the Temp just sits there.

So, when someone finds/creates the perfect combo, let us know!

Thanks for all the suggestions thusfar.

does it needs any other software to detect the temp.? or just rainmeter itself is ok?

    SNAP!...I stand corrected =)

It must have been another config I was looking at.

...fyi, just to report back, I'm diggin' SpeedFan in the SysTray, if I could only find something as lightweight for GPU temps that would minimize to the tray and output temps, I might forget about doing the desktop overlay altogether

I am still using everest. 20mb in memory and maybe a little bit on the proc. shows all our temps we need :D

something really light weight would be nice though

I'm trying to install HUD.Vision with Rainmeter but I can't seem to get it to work. I already moved the appropriate files to the directories. Then I run rainmeter and it won't show up. Is there anything else I need to do or anywhere where I could find out what to do??

maybe it does.. same with the temp widget in yahoo widgets. needs speedfan inorder to work. i got sick of temp meters, coz they just stress the cpu when they work on the backround, making the cpu do more work, in return the meter report inaccurate results. i still find HW monitor cool, cause it really reports the results the moment you want to get an impromptu temp readings. :)
