I'm thinking about getting a desktop shell replacement. I searched the web an have found a few.
bbLean
Emerge Desktop
GeoShell
LDE(X)
LiteStep
Secure Desktop
SharpE
Talisman Desktop
triShell
stardock
windowsblinds
wincustomize
From the screenshots these look fun and I want to try them out but there is a lot to choose from and I don't want to waste time or money on something that will give me a bad exp.
I have heard some people say that some shells replace explorer.exe and run faster, and I heard some shells run slower.
Plus do any of them give you dreamscenes like desktop without Vista Ultimate?
And do they make a touch screen interactive shells?
I mostly want to know which ones you like and which ones you hate. And why you feel that way.
I have a dual boot of Xp tablet and Vista Buss. so advice on ether OS is welcome.
THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!!!

I have used xoblite (a Windows adaptation of Blackbox) in the past, and it has been quite good and fast, it is a flux-like shell, does not replace the Explorer.exe file and is stylish as well, but it can take some time to get accustomed to.

Used WindowsBlinds before Vista Ultimate. Now i just concentrate on cooler wallpapers. Concern is over the SP1 performance of the shells apps.
cheers ...
